Group Progress Report on Proposal

Subject: Progress Report for Group Proposal Project

Introduction
Our group proposal project is a proposal to fund and create a computer lab / tech classroom in Nance Boyer for the English Department’s use. We decided to write this proposal because most Cameron students must enroll in at least two English classes when they are undergraduate students. Often, other computer labs do not cater specifically to the English Department, nor do they have enough computers for an entire class’s use. Our intended audience is Dr. Liu, though it is possible that our proposal will also be read by other English Department professors, including Dr. Kingsley. It also may reach President Ross, who has the power to allocate some of Cameron’s funds to realize the goal of our proposal.

Work Completed
Before we were able to start our research, we discussed the need for such a lab. We also researched the cost of the project, and divided the work among ourselves. Sarah Standish, our group leader, has written our Introduction and Proposed Solution. She also will help conduct the primary research (one interview) and has helped with some secondary research (costs of supervisor’s pay, shelving, tables, chairs). Reneé has already written our Qualifications and is working on our Works Cited, and has completed our secondary research about other computer labs. Alicia has written our Statement of Problem and Conclusions and is also making graphs. Stefani is writing the Methods and Budget sections of our proposal. We will work collaboratively on the Project Schedule. Stefani and Sarah will edit the proposal for cohesiveness and grammatical correctness.

Most of our research was completed by the second week of the project, but we still have to finish our primary research before Stefani is able to finish the Budget and Alicia can make our graphs.

We have met as a group to discuss our project three times. The first time, we decided exactly what we wanted our proposal to accomplish, and what research was necessary to complete the project. At the second meeting, we assigned jobs to each person. During the third meeting, we talked about what needed to be accomplished first, and split up the remaining research among us. At that meeting, we also decided on a Project Schedule.

Only one mishap has occurred so far, in our data collection. Sarah Standish, who works in a computer lab on campus, planned to interview her supervisor. Her supervisor was too busy to assist in the project, so Sarah has had to find a new computer lab supervisor to interview.

Work Remaining
Though we have completed the drafts of most of our work, some things remain to be completed:
· Sarah’s interview of a lab supervisor
· Give data to Stefani, who will then complete the Budget
· Budget passed on to Alicia, who makes the graphs
· Sarah and Stefani edit the final drafts of the sections turned in
· Final meeting to discuss possible revisions
· Revisions made

Conclusion
Overall, we have made excellent progress. Everyone is working hard to get our proposal done ahead of time so that we will have time to edit and revise the proposal before it is due. The first draft of our proposal should be complete this Saturday. We do not expect further complications.
